Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It became the number streaming music of that period within six months. The song is a blend of reggaeton, pop and rock was not only a way to bring renewed interest for reggaeton, it also attracted attention towards Latin music generally. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs in Spanish mainly, and 4 more songs in the year 2016. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, however, 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito was released in the year. After that, well-known artistes began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018) while Madonna was a part of Maluma in Medellin. Reggaeton's most prominent performers were unhappy about the trend toward mainstream music in 2020. However, a brand new group, Rauw alejandro, was looking to change things up. The genre often incorporated elements of other genres and electronic dance.
