Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomenons one who was able to seamlessly transition from the traditional to becoming an enduring popular icon, and sweeping the world in the process. Swift removed her roots in the country as though they were part of her skin to reveal that she was perhaps the savviest populist singer/songwriter of her generation one who could harness the zeitgeist make it personal and equally impressively do the reverse. Swift's early tracks like the Neotribute to Tim McGraw were a testament to her talents. However, her second album Fearless in 2008 showcased a songwriter finding her voice, and also a larger fan base. Fearless became a massive success not only in the United States and six of the singles were declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and You Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across all over the world. Swift managed to build upon her success by releasing Speak Now almost two year following. In the three subsequent albums (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012, 1989 2014 and Reputation 2017 -- her fame only grew. It was a clear indication that she was in a new pop world which she was able to fit into. She stayed in the forefront of pop even when she dropped her signature style in her twin albums, folklore and Evermore in 2020.
